Description

The Malaney Lab (www.malaneylab.org) at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team studying RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) in health and disease. Our lab investigates RBPs regulate RNA splicing, modification, export, translation, and stability, and how mutations in these proteins contribute to pathogenic states. We integrate cell biology, molecular biology, and mouse modeling techniques to uncover the mechanistic basis of RBP dysregulation in cancer and neurodevelopmental diseases.

Salary and Benefits

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities



  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the candidate is expected to lead experimental projects dissecting the role of RNA-binding proteins in health and disease.
  • Keep meticulous laboratory records and communicate effectively and transparently about experiments.
  • Train and supervise students in laboratory procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant literature.
  • Analyze research data and contribute to publications.
  • Participate in weekly meetings, help plan future projects, and foster an inclusive, supportive environment.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9-based cell line generation, and molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with mouse models of disease
  • The ability to design rigorous, well-controlled experiments
  • The ability to troubleshoot experiments and establish new techniques within the lab
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, record-keeping, and time management skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with colleagues across different backgrounds and experience levels


Minimum Requirements



  • A Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related field (ABD considered with expected defense date)
