The Office of Research Security at the University of Virginia seeks an Export Control Compliance Analyst to support the University's export control and research security compliance programs. This position provides operational support for the day-to-day administration of the University's export control program by conducting initial reviews of compliance requests, assisting with regulatory determinations, maintaining compliance records, and supporting outreach to the University research community. Working under the guidance of senior compliance staff, the Export Control Compliance Analyst serves as a significant resource to faculty, researchers, administrators, and staff by helping facilitate compliant international research, travel, shipping, hiring, visitor activities, and global collaborations. Experience interpreting and applying federal regulations or institutional policies is preferred. Experience with export controls is desirable but not required. The successful candidate will receive training in the University's export control and research security compliance programs. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the University's research enterprise by helping faculty and researchers navigate complex federal regulations while advancing international collaboration in a compliant and responsible manner. This position provides an excellent entry point into the field of university research security, offering an opportunity to gain training and firsthand experience. Eligibility Requirement Due to the nature of the duties performed, this position may require access to export-controlled information. Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. The anticipated hiring range is $63,000-85,000, commensurate with education and experience. This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits. This position has a term limit of 2 years with possibility of renewal dependent on department need and funding. This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and is eligible for a hybrid schedule, in accordance with UVA's remote work guidelines.
