Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to update and modernize existing training materials into engaging, learner-focused resources. This role will focus on improving instructional content, enhancing the learner experience, and transforming legacy materials into interactive, easy-to-use training assets.

This is an excellent opportunity for an instructional designer who enjoys refining existing content, organizing information for adult learners, and producing polished deliverables in Adobe InDesign.

Responsibilities

  • Update and modernize existing training materials and learning resources.
  • Transform legacy content into interactive, learner-centered workbooks and training materials.
  • Align training content with existing presentation materials and learning objectives.
  • Develop final deliverables in Adobe InDesign, including interactive and fillable PDF documents.
  • Improve content organization, instructional flow, and overall learner experience.
  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to enhance engagement and usability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback, incorporate revisions, and ensure project goals are met.
  • Partner with an existing graphic designer for specialized visual or image updates as needed.
  • Deliver high-quality, polished learning materials within established project timelines.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of instructional design experience developing adult learning materials.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign (required).
  • Experience creating interactive PDFs and fillable forms.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
  • Experience improving and restructuring existing training content rather than developing curriculum from scratch.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing instructor-led training materials, participant guides, workbooks, or learning resources.
  • Familiarity with accessibility and usability best practices for digital learning materials.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including content experts and graphic designers.

Project Details

  • Part-time contract engagement.
  • Approximately 20 hours per week during the initial phase of the project.
  • Approximately 10 hours per week during the final review and revision phase.
  • Opportunity for additional instructional design projects based on business needs.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced instructional designer who excels at improving existing content and creating engaging learning experiences. They are highly proficient in Adobe InDesign, understand how adults learn, and can transform outdated training materials into polished, interactive resources while collaborating effectively with stakeholders and maintaining high-quality standards.
