Representative Duties

SCOPE OF DUTIES

  • * Promote a culture of wellness by developing and implementing educational initiatives that support student well-being and academic success.
    * Provide wellness education to students in individual and group settings through wellness workshops, classroom presentations supporting health and mental health topics, health fairs, outreach activities promoting student-wellbeing, and other Student Health Center campus events.
    * Increase awareness of Student Health Center programs and services through educational campaigns and student engagement efforts.
    * Educate students about available campus and community resources related to wellness, including physical health, emotional well-being, basic needs, stress management, and other factors that may impact academic success.
    * Conduct brief individual wellness consultations focused on wellness education to identify student needs and facilitate appropriate referrals to existing campus departments and community resources.
    * Encourage help-seeking behaviors and reduce stigma associated with accessing wellness resources and support services.
    * Collaborate with faculty, staff, student organizations, and community partners to integrate wellness education into the broader student experience.
  • * Assist in planning and implementing campus-wide wellness initiatives that support student engagement, retention, and persistence.
    * Research and develop educational materials, outreach tools, social media content, and resource guides that promote wellness and increase visibility of Student Health Center services.
    * Gather participant feedback and maintain records of outreach activities, presentations, and educational efforts to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
    * Participate in departmental meetings, training, and professional development opportunities related to student wellness and health promotion.
    * Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Student Health Center programming.


Minimum Qualifications


  • * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Health Education, Human Services, Sociology, Counseling, or a related field.
    * Two (2) years of experience in health promotion, wellness education, outreach, student engagement, resource navigation, or related activities, preferably in a college or university setting.
    * Experience working with diverse populations, including young adults and college students.

Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in a related field.
* Experience working within a community college environment.
* Bilingual in English and Spanish.
* Experience coordinating wellness campaigns, educational programming, or student engagement initiatives.
* Training in Mental Health First Aid, trauma-informed practices, motivational interviewing, or related approaches.

Supplemental Information

Professional Expert Designation
This position is designated as a Professional Expert assignment intended to provide specialized wellness education and health promotion services under the direction of the Student Health Center. The Wellness Navigator supplements institutional efforts to foster student well-being and academic success and is not intended to replace, duplicate, or perform duties assigned to existing classified positions. The role does not provide psychotherapy, diagnosis, ongoing case management, academic advising, or other services requiring professional licensure or classified assignment.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Wellness Navigator serves as a Professional Expert within the Student Health Center and reports directly to the Director of Student Health Services. Through a holistic and student-centered approach, the Wellness Navigator promotes wellness education as an essential component of student learning, engagement, and academic success. The Wellness Navigator supports the Student Health Center's mission by developing and implementing educational initiatives that increase awareness of wellness resources, promote healthy behaviors, and encourage help-seeking among students. The position engages students through outreach activities, workshops, presentations, campus events, and brief individual consultations focused on wellness education and resource connection.
Working collaboratively with campus departments and community partners, the Wellness Navigator assists students in identifying resources that may support their overall well-being and persistence toward their educational goals.

This position emphasizes prevention, early intervention, and wellness promotion and is not intended to replace or duplicate the duties of classified staff positions that provide ongoing case management, outreach, counseling, or student support services.

Ability to:
* Deliver engaging presentations and facilitate educational workshops for diverse audiences.
* Establish rapport and communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
* Promote wellness using a holistic, strength-based, and student-centered approach.
* Recognize when students may benefit from additional support and facilitate appropriate referrals to existing services.
* Research and develop educational materials and outreach strategies that encourage student participation and engagement.
* Maintain accurate records and prepare reports related to outreach and educational activities.
* Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and sensitivity when interacting with students experiencing challenges.

Working Conditions

* Duties are performed in offices, classrooms, and campus settings.
* Position requires mobility throughout the campus to support outreach events and educational activities.
* Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support student programming and special events.
