The Marketing and Development Assistant works under the Marketing Manager and the Development Manager helping to promote events and performances at the theater and to raise funds that support the Center's ongoing maintenance and operations. While primarily an administrative position supporting the daily activities of the Marketing and Development Managers, this position will also assist during some performances and membership events which take place evenings and weekends. This is a part-time position reporting to the Manager of Marketing. Hours will vary throughout the Weinberg Center's season.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in designing promotional posters, flyers, and graphics
- Assist in planning and creation of email marketing initiatives
- Assist in creation of social media content
- Write and edit press releases
- Research grant opportunities
- Assist in the printing and coordination of regular mailings
- Follow up with and thank donors via phone
- Assist with event management of receptions and dinners
- Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- College level studies or prior work experience in communications, journalism, English, graphic design, marketing, business, arts administration, or theater arts
REQUIRED SKILLS (Communication/Language; Mathematical; Computer; etc.):
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to meet deadlines
- Experience with creative tools and basic design knowledge
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Social media and social media scheduler experience
OTHER DESIRABLES
- Experience interacting with donors
- Customer service experience
- Experience with WordPress
- Experience with social media platforms for business uses

While performing the duties of this role, the incumbent is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. This individual will occasionally be required to move items weighing up to 20 pounds. The incumbent must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and computer equipment and climb stairs. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word and for conveying details or important instructions to others accurately, quickly and at appropriate sound level. Hearing is required to perceive information in both normal and high noise level environments.

The incumbent in this position is occasionally required to travel locally. The incumbent frequently works closely with the general public (large crowds in small spaces). The employee regularly works in historic buildings with stairs and no elevators.
