Job Summary

The Director of Strategy and Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategic planning, operational execution, and performance optimization across key commercial functions within the telecom business. This role oversees teams supporting Analytics & Reporting, Sales Compensation, and Sales Incentives, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, revenue growth targets, and operational efficiency goals.


The ideal candidate combines strong analytical acumen, strategic thinking, and operational leadership to translate business priorities into actionable insights and scalable processes that enable sales performance and organizational success.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Execution



  • Partner with executive leadership to define and execute short- and long-term business strategies aligned with revenue and growth objectives.
  • Translate high-level business goals into operational plans, KPIs, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve go-to-market effectiveness, sales productivity, and customer acquisition/retention.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and digital transformation across sales operations.


Analytics & Reporting



  • Oversee the development and delivery of accurate, timely, and actionable reporting for sales, revenue, and operational performance.
  • Establish and maintain KPI frameworks, dashboards, and executive reporting packages.
  • Drive data governance, data quality, and consistency across systems and reporting tools.
  • Leverage advanced analytics to identify trends, forecast performance, and inform strategic decisions.


Sales Compensation



  • Design and manage sales compensation plans that align with business objectives and motivate desired sales behaviors.
  • Ensure compensation plans are competitive, scalable, and financially sustainable.
  • Partner with Finance and HR to model plan costs and evaluate performance outcomes.
  • Continuously assess and refine compensation structures based on business performance and market trends.


Sales Incentives



  • Develop and execute targeted sales incentive programs to drive focus on key products, markets, and strategic initiatives.
  • Measure effectiveness of incentive programs and optimize based on performance outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment between incentive programs and broader compensation strategies.
  • Manage program governance, communication, and execution timelines.


Sales Compliance



  • Establish and oversee a sales compliance framework ensuring adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
  • Partner with Legal, HR, and Finance to interpret and implement compliance requirements across sales operations.
  • Monitor compensation and incentive plans for compliance risks and alignment with company policies.
  • Lead audits, controls, and documentation processes to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Drive training and awareness programs to reinforce compliance standards across sales teams.


Operational Leadership



  • Lead and develop high-performing teams across Analytics, Compensation, and Incentives functions.
  • Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and accountability frameworks for team members.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Manage budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships where applicable.


Cross-Functional Collaboration



  • Partner with Sales, Finance, HR, IT, and Product teams to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and operational teams.
  • Support system implementations and enhancements (e.g., CRM, compensation tools, BI platforms).

Qualifications

Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 8-12+ years of experience in Strategy, Operations, Sales Operations, or related roles within the telecom or technology industry.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.


Skills & Competencies



  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience in data modeling, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of sales compensation design and incentive structures.
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
