Full Time Probationary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in an allied health field or other discipline relevant to the program from an accredited college or university, Master's preferred; possess a credential in the field of adult echocardiography through the ARDMS (or national equivalent); have a minimum total of five years of experience in the field of echocardiography, either as a practicing sonographer or as an instructor in echocardiography, or a combination of both, within the past ten years; experience in curriculum and/or program development; post-secondary teaching experience in echocardiography or related discipline; and familiarity with student academic advisement at a post-secondary institution.

The preferred applicant will possess experience with the Joint Review Committee on Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) accreditation; experience in distance learning delivery; and experience with program assessment practices.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Instructor, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography reports to the Department Chairperson of Medical Imaging and performs the following duties:

* Must maintain current knowledge of professional specialty and educational methodology through continuing professional development.
* Will formulate and adhere to program entrance requirements.
* Collaborate with the Program Coordinator for the acceptance of students in the program.
* Develop course outlines according to the college policy which incorporate the content specified by the ARDMS.
* Provide academic advisements for students enrolled.
* Assign students to clinical rotations.
* Evaluate clinical education effectiveness through regular site visits to clinical education centers and student competency assessments.
* Instruct courses and/or labs associated with the program in accordance to college policies.
* Facilitate annual Advisory Board and clinical instructor meetings.
* Research potential clinical education sites.
* Maintain programmatic accreditation with the Joint Review Committee on education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS).

The minimum salary for this position is $53,000 and faculty appointments may be at the instructor or assistant professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. This position includes benefits for 12 months but has a work obligation of a 10-month appointment (151 days), which reflects responsibilities during the fall and spring semesters. The annual assigned teaching load is between thirty (30) and thirty-three (33) contact hours, typically distributed as eighteen (18) contact hours in the fall semester and fifteen (15) contact hours in the spring semester. Teaching load may include evening, weekend and/or online assignments, and there may be potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload.
