Your role

As a Test Engineer, your mission is to provide support to the Rock Hill Product Company Engineering Department with prototype assembly, testing, and reporting while operating with excellence. Operate with the highest standards of honesty and integrity. Provide accurate data and feedback to customers in a timely manner and always test and build units with the end customer in mind. We want customers to receive products we can be proud of. Products to be prototyped and tested include diesel-driven portable air compressors, generators, and pumps.

Duties/Responsibilities



  • As a Test Engineer, you are responsible for the management and efficient planning of the lab infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain test procedures for standard tests and standardized data-reporting templates.
  • Specify required laboratory supplies.
  • Provide guidance and planning for technician activities.
  • Manage and allocate all test fixtures within the lab.
  • Test prototype machines and components while continuously improving product quality, safety, and reliability within applicable standards and specifications.
  • Generate detailed test reports and manage test results.
  • Provide accurate written documentation of all test results.
  • Develop and maintain SharePoint sites for test results.
  • Analyze measurement results and propose data-driven solutions, alternatives, and design improvements.
  • Design and document new test setups required for product validation and verification.
  • Evaluate machines returned from the field or production when standard troubleshooting procedures do not resolve issues.
  • Execute competitive benchmark testing.
  • Participate in mechanical and electromechanical design reviews and visual inspections.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures associated with parts, assemblies, and products.
  • Support technicians and project engineers during prototype builds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


To succeed, you will need

  • Testing experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with diesel driven equipment.
  • Must have strong mechanical, electrical, and computer skills and the ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, and work instructions.
  • Software skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is required.
  • Committed to accuracy and detail.
  • Understanding of bills of material (BOM).
  • Willing to be hands on and to make/rework electrical components such as wiring harnesses.
  • Must have a proven track record of positive results.
  • Mechanical aptitude, detail oriented, self-motivated, disciplined, organized, strong verbal and written communication, strong computer aptitude.


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or minimum 5 years of practical experience.
  • 3-5+ years of testing experience in industrial, automotive or a related field is required.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Experience working with and designing diesel driven equipment is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with Portable Energy equipment is a definite plus.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times (occasionally).

This role requires you to work on-site at our office in Rock Hill SC, United States (US). You will be part of a dynamic team and enjoy the benefits of face-to-face collaboration.
