About the Job:
Provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the students, employees and guests of the University of Minnesota, Morris. Perform custodial and general maintenance for Facilities Management supported buildings on campus. UMM faculty and staff demonstrate an appreciation of cultural diversity and the ability to work effectively with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, and experience.

Location and Work environment: In person, UMN Morris Campus

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.

Primary Responsibilities:

Daily cleaning in an academic setting (80%)

  • Includes scrubbing floors with scrubbing machine, mopping floors, stripping and waxing floors, vacuuming and extracting carpets, cleaning restrooms, walls, windows, mirrors, and fixtures, polishes chrome finishes, collects waste paper, and replenishes supplies. Changes lights/fixtures which can be reached by a 12-foot ladder

Sweep and shovel snow and remove other debris from steps and sidewalks (10%)

Set up for special events or projects and other duties as assigned (10%)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and write English. This person must be able to lift 50 pounds from the floor to shoulder height.
  • Bending, stooping, shoveling, mopping, vacuuming, standing, climbing stairs repeatedly in an 8 hour shift.
  • Working with cleaning chemicals is done on a daily basis.
  • Working with cleaning equipment, both manual and automatic.
  • Working in elevations, on a ladder or in a lift to wash windows, change light bulbs, etc. as needed.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $23.17/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment
