About the Job

Research Description
The project aims at combining three primary data sets (JWST NEXUS spectroscopy, Euclid Deep Field North (EDFN) imaging and slitless spectroscopy, and simulated Roman High Latitude Spectroscopic Survey data) to construct a secure JWST-based redshift reference catalog for Euclid/Roman-selected galaxies brighter than H < 24. The reference catalog will be used to quantify sample purity (correct redshifts), completeness (recovered sources), and contamination as function of redshift and magnitude.

Job Duties

  • 65%: Research
  • 10% Supervision of graduate students, technicians, and undergraduates participating in this research
  • 10% Maintain familiarity with the latest results and methods in the field, reading relevant papers, organizing and participating in seminars and conferences.
  • 15%: Communicating research to the collaboration and the broader community by giving presentations to the collaboration, writing technical documents, and submitting papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Giving presentations at universities and laboratories, and presenting results at domestic and international conferences. Other duties of a similar scope as assigned.)
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Required PhD in Physics or Astrophysics by beginning date of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
Python programming and experience with IR slitless spectroscopy from space.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $62,232 per year; depending on education/qualifications/experience
