The main campus is located in the historic village of Kingston, and the Bay Campus is located in Narragansett. Both campuses are near major beaches in a beautiful coastal community. URI is just 30 minutes from Providence, RI and within easy reach of Newport, Boston, and New York City. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSITION SUMMARY: Support students through challenges, connect them to appropriate campus and community resources, and empower/ promote agency to enhance well-being . Collaboratively coordinate and deliver university accessibility services and support for students with disabilities. Duties and Responsibilities: KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Assistant Deans, implement case management and individual intervention strategies for students needing behavioral intervention (i.e. , disruptive students, substance abuse prevention, emotional well-being, and safety. ) Services will be provided to students during in-person and/or remote meetings . Establish and supervise delivery and database documentation of essential services to students with disabilities, including reasonable accommodations to support equal opportunity in URI academic and co-curricular programs and services. Serve as a liaison with Housing and Residential Life to support students with documented disability needs and/or housing insecurity. Serve in a triage/ referral capacity to provide support and assessment for the type of resources and assistance needed for academic and personal success, including appropriate disability-related options. Examples include mental health concerns, medical emergencies, family challenges, food insecurity, financial hardship, and bereavement . Assist and advise the Assistant Deans and the DAI/SSAS Teams in guiding University departments regarding students of concern along with accessibility options in courses, programs, and services; supply guidance for providing resources and services to students with disabilities and/or students of concern. Design and implement individual, group, and environmental interventions to increase awareness of mental health problems, available supports and decreases impact of disruptive student behavior on all aspects of campus life. Provide follow-up case management support for students referred to through the University Student Assistance Teams, and for students' post-hospitalization. Work directly with students and coordinate with appropriate university personnel including University Police, Counseling Center, Health Services, Retention and Academic Success, Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services, Talent Development, Academic Deans, as well as local hospitals and police agencies OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Serve as a trainer in areas of disruptive student behavior and student mental health concerns for faculty and staff. Compile statistical reports and documents for the Dean of Students Office . Represent the Office on University, Division, and other committees, and at University events, such as commencement, new student orientation, open houses and welcome days. Perform other duties as required. LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Personal computers, printers, word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.
