The Tier 3 System Engineer will have a good understanding of the software and hardware products used by the company and the end-users, as well as experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, helpdesk software, and remote support tools. The Operations Technical Lead should possess a level of communications polish to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical users, as well as collaborate with other members of the IT team. The Operations Technical Lead should demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team of Tier 1& Tier 2 helpdesk technicians.

The Systems Engineer role supports multiple, major Operations initiatives and the successful candidate is expected to have the wherewithal to prioritize, over-communicate, plan and tightly coordinate with a variety of stakeholders, while driving day-to-day ticket closure to meet or exceed established SLAs. A high level of emotional intelligence, awareness, and ability to rapidly "read the room," is critically required to understand and adapt to a wide variety of personalities to draw the "best" out of teammates to get work done.

Remote work is available for a substantial portion of this role. Some onsite presence may be required from time to time, and the exact schedule will depend on project and organizational needs.

Responsibilities:



  • Troubleshoots and resolves configuration and application issues on enterprise server platforms (e.g. Windows 2019 and above)
  • Applies patches and scans stand-alone workstations.
  • Enforces configuration and security standards.
  • Analyzes and modifies Active Directory Group Policy Objects and User and Computer Objects.
  • Supports mobile solutions, such as, but not limited to Microsoft Exchange (Active Sync), Office 365, Mobile Device Management (MDM) such as AirWatch, JAMF Casper, with alternative token technology (i.e., Derived Credentials) Supports messaging chat systems such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong Virtualization experience that includes Cloud offerings such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
  • Solve complex technical Windows and Hyper-V problems in an enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with supporting Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) running Microsoft Windows
  • Demonstrated experience in installing, configuring, deploying, and implementing software and firmware patching, such as WSUS, SCCM, YUM, etc, for heterogeneous operating systems environments (including Microsoft Windows and Linux)
  • Experience in Linux administration
  • Supports collaboration software such as SharePoint, application-based firewall and proxy server(s).
  • Deploys and hardens Windows Server 2019 and above, including Apple OSX, IOS platforms(s).
  • Implement, administer, and deploy leading security tools including but not limited to: Splunk, CrowdStrike, Carbon Black (Cb), NESSUS Security Center, Privilege Access Management (PAM).
  • Experience with managing ServiceNow tickets
  • Maintaining & managing network servers, routers/switches and other miscellaneous network devices and server applications.
  • Issue resolution with Outlook and email, remote access (Cisco)
  • New account creation: active coordination with submitter for correct documentation completion and active coordination with approvers
  • Opening and closing S&T IT trouble tickets and managing status locally.
  • Monitoring ServiceNow queues for open/pending tickets.
  • Close collaboration with other functional teams across the organization
  • Inventorying IT hardware and software
  • Tracking the full life cycle (plan, acquire, use, maintain and dispose) of enterprise server assets
  • Close collaboration with the Certificate and License team:
  • Keeps IT equipment and IT services running including troubleshooting and fixing IT enterprise issues such as Microsoft operating system, active directory, server, and hardware issues such as workstations, servers, and
  • Performs SQL/Database administration support including performing software and patch update on Microsoft SQL clustered servers.
  • Performs and maintains SQL/Database scripting, database management including database normalization, and supporting SQL and Database administration functions such as MS SQL and scripts such as Power Script used to create custom
  • Responsible for installing, deploying, and managing Microsoft enterprise services software such as Active Directory, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DCHP), Domain Name System (DNS), and file and print
  • Supports Microsoft service management and monitoring tools such as Works in Microsoft client/server platforms, networking impacts on SCCM architecture, scripting (PowerShell), creating and deploying operating system images for Windows servers and workstation customized to organizational/operational and security requirements.
  • Manages and responsible for software/patch management tools such as MECM at the enterprise level. Maintains and supports day to day operations and configuring/troubleshooting all aspects of MECM effectively, including patch management, software distribution, Operating System Deployment, reporting, and logging.

Position Requirements:



  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • 15+ years performing O&M Systems Engineering work
  • Experience with Linux / Red Hat Enterprise (RHEL)
  • ONE of the following certifications:

    • Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ104)
    • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ900) OR
    • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP) OR





Desired:



  • Currently supporting a DHS Component
  • Currently possess DHS EOD



Pay Range: $120k - $135k; may have flexibility

The posted pay range reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
