Overview
Under minimal direction, perform skills within discipline with a high degree of knowledge and understanding of the work being performed.
Responsibilities
- Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
- Complete all required Safety documentation
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to load, offload, push and pull
- Level earth to fine grade specifications using shovel or other hand tool
- Mix concrete or grout using portable mixer
- Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete using float, trowel or screed
- Position, join, align and connect pumps, motors and other mechanical or metal parts
- Mop, brush or spread paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection
- Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint or stucco through hose to clean, coat or seal surfaces
- Apply caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices
- Grind, sand or polish surfaces such as concrete and steel, using abrasive tools or machines
- Perform tasks involving use of hands and tools such as torquing/tensioning bolts and studs, assembling metal parts, building bolt cages, vibrating concrete, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, and demolitions, cleanup, use of jackhammers, etc.
- Provide direction and guidance to CCL Apprentices on site as needed
- Provide assistance to other crafts on the site as needed
- Perform care and maintenance of assigned tools
- Perform physical labor on construction sites
- Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as required
- May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must fit one of the following criteria
- 4 years experience in the field
- 3 years experience with sign off from field supervision of exemplary skills met
- Exemplary includes, but not limited to: Rating of 3 or higher on performance reviews
- Completed registered apprenticeship program Eligible to become apprenticeship mentor (incentive program available, formal training required)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units, weight measurement and volume
- Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
