About This Role

The Information Technology Support Specialist II provides IT support for research in the College of Arts and Sciences, with half of the role dedicated to the James R. Macdonald Laboratory (JRM Lab) in the Department of Physics. The JRM Lab conducts advanced atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics research at Kansas State University.

This position is the primary contact for workstation support, including hardware and software installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and resolution of technical issues. The role also delivers essential desktop and network support and serves as the first point of contact for technical needs in research laboratories across the college.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and two years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or any quantitative science or math discipline
  • Three years IT experience. Knowledge of Windows, Mac, Linux and IOS operating systems, network connectivity/configuration to remote drives and remote access, acquisition and installation, computer hardware repair/replacement


Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
