About the Job

The Studio Assistant will support Associate Professor Rotem Tamir with the research, fabrication, installation, and organization of an ongoing sculpture project funded by a Grant-in-Aid (GIA). This position offers hands-on experience in a professional artist's studio and is ideal for someone interested in sculpture, installation, material experimentation, and contemporary art.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with sculpture fabrication using a variety of materials and tools.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain the studio.
  • Cut, sand, drill, assemble, and finish artwork.
  • Assist with mold making, casting, and other material processes.
  • Prepare materials for experiments and prototypes.
  • Pack, transport, and install artwork as needed.
  • Research materials and fabrication methods.
  • Perform general studio maintenance.
  • Complete other project-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Recent art student, preferably with a focus on sculpture.
  • Experience with basic woodworking or metalworking tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions.
  • Reliable and comfortable working in a collaborative studio environment.
  • Experience with sewing, mold making, welding, or art installation is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
