About The Role:

As a Civil Project Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering infrastructure projects that support communities, protect natural resources, and strengthen critical public and private facilities. Working across projects involving dams, landfills, reservoirs, stormwater systems, water resources, energy infrastructure, renewable energy facilities, mining operations, and erosion control, you will apply your technical expertise to solve complex engineering challenges from concept through construction. In this role, you'll help design resilient, sustainable infrastructure that enhances public safety, supports economic growth, protects the environment, and delivers lasting value to S&ME's clients. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving successful project outcomes while mentoring future engineers and contributing to the continued growth and reputation of S&ME.



  • Project Design & Engineering Analysis: Develop conceptual designs and perform hydraulic, hydrologic, and civil engineering analyses to evaluate alternatives and determine effective, practical solutions for a variety of infrastructure projects.
  • Technical Documentation & Quality Review: Lead the preparation and review of construction drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and other project documents, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with S&ME standards and client requirements.
  • Project Management & Client Coordination: Manage project schedules, budgets, risks, and deliverables while serving as a primary point of contact for clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams.
  • Field Assessments & Construction Support: Conduct site visits and construction inspections, evaluate existing conditions, provide engineering recommendations, and support successful project implementation from design through construction.
  • Team Leadership & Business Development: Mentor junior staff, review project work for completeness and accuracy, contribute to proposal development, and help strengthen client relationships that support the continued growth of S&ME's Civil practice.



About You:



  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, Master's degree is a plus
  • You have a minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering design projects, with 1+ years managing projects
  • You have a Professional Engineer (PE) license in OH, preferred, but other states are acceptable
  • You have solid working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, and stormwater modeling programs, and the development of engineering calculations.

    • Experience with HydroCAD, HEC RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar hydrology and hydraulic analysis software, a plus


  • You have excellent business and technical writing skills
