Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for an Supervisor, Flightline to join our Flightline team based in Columbus, MS.

You will be responsible for supervising the "Part 21" H125 and H145, and "Part 145" H125, H130, H135, H145, and H160 Flightline teams through proper planning, execution, and accomplishment of flight test schedule and goals for all repair station and production aircraft.

It's here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your challenges:

Supervision: 80%

  • Meet delivery schedules by supervising a team of 15-20 flight test technicians.

  • Adjusts manpower and work with other departments as needed to execute over 300 production work orders to support flight test and conformity of multiple Airbus Helicopters airframes (H145, H125, H130, H135, H160)

  • Ensures that the Leads/Technicians have the tools, data and support required to perform their functions in accordance with the published schedule.

  • Ensures compliance with rules/regulations and company policies and procedures, such as, but not limited to, FAA repair station, FOP/GOP, ISO, OSHA, etc. by maintaining a presence in the areas of responsibility and spot checking aircraft, work books, and quality gates on a regular basis.

  • Review training requirements, records, and classes to ensure employees are up to date and qualified to perform the given tasks.

  • Develop, schedule, and organize training sessions on topics that fall outside of the "Training Manager's" responsibilities. Organizes weekly team meetings and communicates the needs of our customers and management to the flightline teams.

  • Assists the team in troubleshooting problems and coordinates with supporting departments, such as engineering and QA, to recommend resolution plans.

  • Conducts periodic performance evaluations

  • Assist in the hiring process of new employees, make recommendations for transfers, promotions, and merits as needed. Document disciplinary actions when required.

  • Responsible for the completeness of all work performed by the flight test technicians on all Part 21 and Part 145 aircraft.

  • Responsible for ensuring that every helicopter is assembled, inspected, and/or repaired and tested in accordance with the customer's identified configuration and in accordance with issued production orders.

  • Maintains a close working relationship with supporting departments in regards to schedules, priorities, availability of parts, documentation, supplies, tools, and special instructions as required.

  • Redirects manpower and flight test requirements as needed to accommodate changes in work scope as Program Management requests.

  • Works with Programs and QA to coordinate offsite activities such as deliveries and maintenance.

  • Researches tooling purchases and supplies as needed to support flightline activities and reports needs to management

Reporting: 20%

  • Maintains aircraft status reports for all Part 21 and Part 145 aircraft on the flightline, to include customer incoming, flight test, and delivery scenarios and report to management as required

  • Provides manpower quotes and follow-up reports to the Management and Programs team.

  • Provides daily status to management and/or flightline support staff.

  • Report all employee health and aircraft related incidents to Safety in a timely manner.

Your boarding pass:

Education:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance Management or equivalent work experience

Experience:

Required

  • Minimum of ten (10) years related rotary wing technical experience.

  • Experience resolving technical issues.

  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of A&P procedures and repair station procedures.

  • Requires proficiency in FAA and FAR regulations.

  • Must be familiar with state and federal safety and environmental regulations which apply to this area of responsibility.

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of Garmin, Microvibe, Helionix, and Vision1000 systems.

  • Familiarity in the maintenance and principles of operation and technical requirements and systems required on any of the following airframes: H125, H130, H135, H145, and H160

Licensure/Certifications:

Required

  • A&P Rating - Must be willing to use A/P license outside of the repair station.

Preferred

  • I/A Rating

  • Trained/certified by OEM on any of the above listed airframes

Travel Required:

  • 10% Domestic and International

Citizenship:

  • US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)

Qualified Skills:

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required

  • Must be consistent with meeting management's needs and objectives.

  • Must adapt techniques and tools to meet special needs and serve as a technical resource to less experienced employees.

  • Minimum five (5) years of component installation and troubleshooting experience

  • Strong leadership skills.

Preferred

  • 5 years of flight test experience

  • 3 years Airbus experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Daily

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Bi-monthly

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
