Project Manager, Virtual Design & Construction

Job Summary:

This position oversees the overall VDC delivery of a project from start to finish, including modeling, BIM trade coordination, and detailing deliverables by planning, directing, and tracking VDC team activities to meet project schedules and budgets. This role requires expertise in analyzing architectural, structural, and trade models, fulfilling BIM execution requirements, and the ability to drive results across project teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advanced VDC/BIM Application: Demonstrate a deep understanding and/or five years of hands-on experience using, navigating, coordinating, and drawing in 2D/3D modeling software. Must possess the active ability to use Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other BIM software to model and evaluate impacts.
  • Clash Resolution Leadership: Provide strong leadership in identifying and resolving design conflicts and system clashes, both internal and external. This includes the hands-on ability to resolve minor clashes first-hand and confidently lead trade coordination meetings.
  • VDC Project Management: Act as the VDC Project Manager from pre-construction through completion, bridging the gap between standard PM staff and detailing teams by focusing heavily on successful BIM execution strategies and constructability.
  • Workflow Optimization & RFI Support: Create and manage BIM constraint logs to proactively resolve roadblocks (such as submittal conflicts), streamline downstream production, and provide RFI assistance regarding detailing impacts.
  • Quality Assurance & Deliverables: Perform preliminary reviews of contract drawings, models, specifications, and BIM execution plans to ensure completed work adheres to ACCO BIM standards prior to coordinating project-deliverable packages.
  • Data & Model Tracking: Work seamlessly with files across network servers and share sites, actively tracking and managing model updates provided by trade partners to maintain an accurate coordination environment.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Foster a professional, collaborative environment and clearly communicate design and constructability challenges with internal colleagues and external project partners.
  • Process Improvement & General Duties: Apply hands-on training and project experience to continuously improve technical abilities and downstream processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Position Requirements: (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):

  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • 5+ years of BIM/VDC and project coordination experience desired
  • Knowledge of building system constructability requirements (MEPF, Structural, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand design documents, RFI's, and project schedules including design and construction activities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills

Job Responsibility Level:

Project management of assigned teams. No direct reports.

Travel Requirements:

Travel to project site is required and may also include the need for temporary relocation for the support of critical project activities.

Hours:

This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor. Work outside of regular hours may occasionally be necessary to meet business needs.

Competitive Wages:

$106,500 to $155,000 Annual Salary. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others. The offered wage or salary is only one aspect of an employee's total compensation.
