Location/Region: This is a remote role that will require occasional travel to our Wixom, MI facility.

What's the role?

The Project Technician is responsible for leading, troubleshooting, and resolving issues on-site of CMM project systems installation. The Project Technician is the front-line face to the customer to commission automated measurement equipment.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Installations:
    • Represent ZEISS as onsite lead during installation of all Project related content
    • Install, troubleshoot, and run off ZEISS CMM automated loading systems
    • Direct and support end user skilled trades teams during the installation of ZEISS CMM enclosure and automated measurement systems.
    • Oversee ZEISS equipment as it moves thru the PRO TAG process.
    • Program and trouble shoot safety systems and electrical systems
    • Program and trouble shoot Watlow HVAC controller
    • Communicate on site installation status to project manager
    • Work with and validate deliverables of ZEISS contractors & vendors
    • Document system acceptance and provide installation report to project manager
    • Prepare custom documentation for the operation of each unique system
  • Engineering Changes:
    • Identify and report necessary Engineering Changes
    • Support Engineering team in the development and validation of engineering changes
  • On-Site Support
    • Train customer on system use

Do you qualify?

  • Mechanical inclinations and skills preferred
  • Verbal and written communication skills with an ability to create concise technical reports.
  • Mechanical detailing - reading blueprints, CAD Drawings, etc..
  • Excellent computer skill, including proficiency in MS Office.
  • Electrical systems troubleshooting experience desired
  • Must be a team player across the organization.
  • Must have valid US driver license

Working Conditions:

  • Willingness to travel to customer sites 50%-70% and work off schedule hours for up to 3 weeks at a time.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, such as keyboarding; conducting internet or other research; date entry, coding, matching and filing, and other similar tasks.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis.
