What You'll Do

- Independently execute network validation activities across hyperscale data center infrastructure while ensuring compliance with customer specifications and E2 Optics quality standards.
- Perform comprehensive audits of:
- Front-End Network (FENW) infrastructure
- Fiber optic backbone systems
- Copper infrastructure
- Network cabinets
- Patch panels
- Fiber enclosures
- Structured cabling systems
- Network hardware connectivity
- Validate activation readiness by confirming:
- Asset tag accuracy
- Uplink validation
- Circuit integrity
- Labeling accuracy
- Physical installation compliance
- Documentation completeness
- Testing completion
- Customer acceptance requirements
- Perform independent troubleshooting of standard network issues including:
- Fiber contamination
- Mispatching
- Connector damage
- Polarity issues
- Improper routing
- Cable damage
- Equipment reseats
- Label discrepancies
- Identify recurring failure patterns and determine when issues represent isolated failures versus systemic network problems requiring escalation.
- Perform independent fiber optic testing utilizing:
- Optical Loss Test Sets (OLTS)
- Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR)
- Optical Power Meters (OPM)
- Visual Fault Locators (VFL)
- Digital Fiber Inspection Scopes
- Perform Permanent Link testing utilizing One Jumper Reference methodology in accordance with ANSI/TIA-526-7-A requirements.
- Interpret OTDR traces to identify:
- Connector losses
- Splice losses
- Reflection events
- Fiber breaks
- Excessive attenuation
- Installation defects
- Perform loopback validation and signal path verification.
- Validate fiber optic connector cleanliness utilizing IEC 61300-3-35 inspection standards.
- Perform approved fiber cleaning procedures using customer-approved methods and manufacturer recommendations.
- Interpret customer loss budget requirements including:
- ISP Permanent Link
- OSP
- Channel
- Loopback
- Perform basic BERT and circuit audit interpretation including review of:
- Bit Error Rate (BER)
- Forward Error Correction (FEC)
- Port Flaps
- Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)
- Perform qualified remediation activities within documented authorization including:
- Connector replacement
- Re-terminations
- Standard fiber remediation
- Patch corrections
- Label corrections
- Cable routing corrections
- Hardware reseats
- Correlate multiple audit tickets to identify common infrastructure failures affecting multiple circuits or systems.
- Maintain proficiency using customer software systems including:
- FIM
- CableGuy
- UTP
- Customer ticketing platforms
- Asset management systems
- Network documentation systems
- Generate complete native test files and PDF reports supporting customer acceptance requirements.
- Maintain calibration awareness for assigned testing equipment and verify compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure all assigned documentation accurately reflects completed work, testing results, remediation activities, and final network status.
- Escalate systemic issues, recurring failures, engineering concerns, or customer-impacting deficiencies to a Hyperscale Network Specialist III in accordance with established escalation procedures.
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance, mentoring, and field support to Hyperscale Network Specialist I personnel.
- Support customer walkdowns, commissioning activities, turnover inspections, and quality verification efforts.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives designed to improve productivity, audit accuracy, network quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain organized work areas, testing equipment, customer assets, and project documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of project objectives and customer requirements.
- Travel: The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required by E2 Optics.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This role requires sitting, use of hands and arms, verbal communication, and occasional physical movement such as stooping or kneeling. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. Must be able to operate equipment such as scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs (buggies) if required to do so. The employee may also be required to work in tight and confined spaces. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
