DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees community health activities and ensures the delivery of high-quality public health services. The role supports planning, assessments, outreach, and daily clinical operations. Headquartered at the Westmoreland State Health Center, this supervisory position oversees Community Health Nurses and clerical staff within the Southwest District. While the district encompasses Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland counties, direct supervisory responsibilities for this role are focused exclusively on the Westmoreland and Mon Valley locations. As a Community Health Nurse Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Disease Surveillance: Ensure investigation and monitoring of reportable diseases using state-approved systems and manuals
- Clinical Leadership: Direct clinical practices and public health services according to bureau policies and standing orders
- Service Planning: Guide public health activities, emergency responses, projects, and community programs
- Community Partnerships: Coordinate with agencies, providers, hospitals, and schools to support health initiatives and education
- Staff Oversight: Lead, consult, and orient nursing and clerical staff to ensure a competent and effective workforce
- Program Monitoring: Review health programs, maintain records, and prepare reports to support improved health outcomes
- Emergency Response: Support public health emergency missions, including assignments under varying conditions and locations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- The position requires availability for evening and weekend assignments based on operational needs.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Greensburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years as a Community Health Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of community health nursing experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
