Principal Product Manager

Procore
United States, Texas, Austin
221 West 6th Street (Show on map)
Jul 17, 2026

Join Procore as a Principal Product Manager, Identity & Access Management, and help us connect the entire construction industry on a global platform. You'll play a key role in shaping the authorization infrastructure that underpins the world's most widely used construction platform.

This is a strategically important product area. Authorization touches every team at Procore; it is the foundation on which secure, scalable, multi-tenant construction software is built. As Principal PM, you will significantly influence outcomes that tie directly to Procore's product strategy, by owning the strategy, roadmap, and execution for Procore's authorization systems - spanning fine-grained access control, AI agent permissions, and the policy and scoping frameworks that govern what every user and service can do within Procore - while partnering with engineering, security, and go-to-market teams to ship solutions that perform at enterprise scale.

The construction industry is primed for technological innovation, and Procore is a market leader in this space. You will have a unique opportunity to drive innovation and make a global impact, building a platform that empowers the Groundbreakers who develop and transform our communities. This role reports to the Group Product Manager, IAM, and is based in Austin, Texas.

What you'll do:

  • Define and own the multi-year vision and roadmap for Procore's authorization platform, including fine-grained authorization (FGA), AI agent permissions, and the policy engine that enforces access decisions across the platform.

  • Translate complex authorization requirements into clear, defensible product strategies. Write vision documents, opportunity assessments, and product briefs that articulate the 'why' with sound logic and build buy-in at the executive level.

  • Break large, strategically complex initiatives into shippable phases that deliver consistent incremental customer and business value without losing the long-term thread. Ladder, not leap.

  • Lead deep discovery with enterprise customers, security-focused buyers, and developers to surface unmet needs in access control and translate insights into roadmap decisions.

  • Partner closely with engineering, security, and design to define scalable, secure, and developer-friendly authorization solutions. Anticipate technical risks and design requirements that account for performance, reliability, scalability, and global product fit.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment across IAM, core platform, and the product teams that consume authorization APIs. Serve as the connective tissue across teams when ownership is unclear.

  • Define initiative-level customer and business outcomes, set measurable KPIs, and track progress, articulating to leadership why they matter and course-correcting when needed.

  • Lead go-to-market coordination for authorization capabilities, ensuring Sales, Support, and Enablement are equipped to position and support what we ship.

  • AI is central to how we work. You'll be expected to master generative tools and agentic workflows, using AI to accelerate discovery, synthesize research, write specs, and move faster across every dimension of the PM role. Beyond personal productivity, you will define how authorization policies and permission frameworks govern the emerging world of AI agents operating within Procore.

  • Mentor and provide oversight to more junior PMs on the IAM team, raising the bar on strategic thinking, discovery rigor, agentic SDLC, and written communication.

What we're looking for:

  • You have 5-8 years of product management experience, with meaningful depth in Identity and Access Management, specifically authorization systems (RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, policy engines, or equivalent). Experience with Zanzibar-style fine-grained authorization is a plus.

  • You demonstrate deep expertise in authorization: how models scale, where they break, and how enterprise customers think about access governance, least-privilege, and auditability.

  • You have a proven track record owning a strategically important, highly ambiguous product area - turning ambiguity into a strategy that survives executive scrutiny, not just stakeholder skim. You operate with minimal direction, a strong bias for action, and serve as the glue when ownership is unclear. You know when to make the call versus build consensus.

  • You're an experienced systems thinker, can look around corners, identify downstream requirements, edge cases, failure modes, scale limits, and other risks before they become problems, and design product solutions that hold up at enterprise scale.

  • You synthesize data and insights from customer discovery, competitive intelligence, quantitative analytics, and corporate strategy, and make high-leverage decisions at the appropriate speed.

  • You're a world-class communicator, both written and verbal. You can inspire a tripod of engineers and designers, align skeptical stakeholders, and present a compelling vision to senior leadership.

  • You have a strong technical foundation in RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, and policy engines, and can credibly discuss API design, policy evaluation, token structures, and performance trade-offs directly with engineers.

  • You show an AI-forward vision and clear understanding of how agentic software development is changing the SDLC, ideally using AI tools to multiply your own daily output and having a clear perspective on how agentic software development changes the authorization surface area.

  • Bachelor's degree, ideally in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
