This role is responsible for the P&L for the Rare Disease Business Unit and for driving profitable growth with Upsher-Smith's rare disease brands. This individual will drive the go-to-market strategy for product launch and commercialization ensuring the seamless execution of the commercial growth and marketing agenda while managing all aspects of the commercial team, including Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services & Analytics. Essential Job Duties
- Innovative and ethical leader who establishes and directs the planning and execution of rare disease brand strategies by directing activities of key functions: Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Data Analytics, Patient Services & Medical Affairs.
- Provides strong leadership & develops a high performing team that is aligned and focused on delivering a best-in-class patient experience in rare disease.
- Leads the distribution strategy, including the identification, evaluation and selection of specialty pharmacy partners.
- Develops and implements effective patient services programs that meet KPI's.
- Ensures market access strategies ensure patients have access to brands via commercial and government 3rd party payers.
- Directs Marketing team to execute marketing programs that drive, awareness and trial of brands.
- Partners with Medical Affairs to develop KOL strategies and programs that educate and support provider adoption of brands.
- Develops & presents business plans to executive leadership team.
- Develops and presents sales, market share, market access and reports on KPI's to the executive leadership team and other functions.
- Collaborates with each functional leader to develop detailed business plans and strategies that support product objectives and financial targets.
- Sets clear goals and objectives aligned with the company's objectives.
- Stays informed on market trends, industry developments, and competitive landscape; adapts the strategy to maximize product contributions.
- Works with CEO, Head of Commercial, Business Development and executive leadership to identify pipeline programs or acquisition targets to drive future growth.
- Collaborates with cross-functional executives to lead the company and achieve financial targets.
Education / Experience Requirements:
- Ideal candidate will have previous VP level experience leading a commercial team in Pediatric Neurology Rare Diseases.
- Expected to have extremely strong commercial leadership experience in multiple commercial functions: marketing, sales, patient access and market access experience, combined with the ability to succeed at a strategic, tactical and operational level.
- Bring outstanding internal and external communication skills, leadership and a pro-active approach.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree in business administration (MBA) is preferred with a minimum of 15 years of commercial leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience in rare and orphan disease therapies is required. Prefer experience in pediatric neurology, including epilepsy.
- Substantial rare disease experience who can provide leadership, direction and vision with the aptitude to drive commercial growth and excellence.
