HJF is seeking a Senior Molecular Genetic Laboratory Manager to work as a supervisor of clinical research laboratory. Supports the needs of clinical research center. Supervises senior and junior laboratory members. Coordinates activities for histotechnician working within the anatomic pathology laboratory. Oversees biospecimen bank coordination and works with basic science director to ensure that research needs are being met.

This position will be in support of DoD/DHA Operational Medicine, GME, and AMC capability gaps.

  • Helps to identify disease situations and to design proper laboratory support for projects.
  • Supervises and trains laboratory personnel in procedures of safety and quality control protocols.
  • Maintains standard operating procedure (SOP) for laboratory. Assists providers ensure tests are ordered and collected according to SOP.
  • Creates and presents abstracts and papers at scientific conferences; works on key projects within program; participates and supports grants.
  • Upholds all policies and procedures based on current and/or future certifying organizations. Coordinates the activities related to the performance and compliance of clinical/research laboratory studies at applicable centers. Must be familiar with HIPAA standards, JHACHO regulations and OHRP standards for the protection of human subjects and laboratory members.
  • Obtains and ensures study approval. Coordinates submission of all annual and final reports required by host location, study sponsor, and/or outside regulatory agencies as requested. Coordinates/assists with audits performed by study sponsor.
  • Follows up patient orders to ensure the prompt, efficient and accurate performance of laboratory test results.
  • Assists staff in making sure that all Quality Control specimen and data is acceptable and follows protocols. Coordinates quality assurance projects for those studies being conducted, including record reviews, data searches, and protocol submission documents.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct Supervisor: Direct authority to make decisions on the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, starting salaries and merit increases; conduct employee performance evaluations and directs work activities.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a science related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 9-10 years experience required. Minimum of 4 years supervisory experience in a laboratory setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of a wide variety of laboratory techniques.
  • Has advanced understanding of CLIA, OSHA, and CAP requirements..
  • Technical knowledge of scientific disciplines.
  • Has experience in writing standard operating procedures or laboratory protocols necessary for accreditation.
  • Has developed and maintained research study involving testing in the laboratory. Has knowledge in research.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust Background Check.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Education and experience in microbiology equivalent to an MT (ASCP).

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary pay range for this position is $93,100-$143,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
