Bloomberg Associates(BA) is Bloomberg Philanthropies' pro bono consulting service founded by Michael R. Bloomberg, the 108th Mayor of New York City and Founder of Bloomberg LP, as a philanthropic venture. We provide services to cities that help governments improve the quality of life of their citizens.BA works across nine (9) different focus areas: Cultural Assets Management, Marketing & Communications, Media and Digital Strategies, Municipal Integrity, Social Services, Sustainability, Transportation, Economic Development and Urban Planning, with teams that have deep subject matter expertise and extensive experience in municipal government.

Within theSustainabilitypracticethe Housing Teamsupports multiple client cities across a wide array of projectsrelated tohousing affordabilitybroadlyandmunicipal efforts to increase that affordability.

The Positon

TheHousingTeamisseekingafellow to support the teamonvarioushousingprojectsacross several client cities.Engagements with cities include projects such ashousing program development,housingneeds assessments,best practice research, andhigh-levelstrategic planning.

The fellow should haveanunderstanding ofaffordable housingpolicy and programming within municipal contextsto facilitate onboarding into projects withinvariouscities.Theyshould haveahighlevelof comfort withdata analyses,conductingdesktop research and interviews, and development of presentation materials.

This role is remote and part-time, working an average of 20 hours per week. The Fellow would be on a six-month contract.

• Conduct program research and interview municipal staff as part of existing housing program audits.
• Support the development of Housing Needs Assessment(s) by producing data analyses, overseeing project management or consultants, and developing presentations or reports
• Provide technicalassistanceand project management support in the development ofpublic facing housing dashboards, backend data infrastructure, and governing SOPs in multiple cities.
• Conductin-depthanalysisand develop presentations that communicate the impactofmunicipal programs.
• Undertakehousing best practice research and developpolicy or programcase studiesthathelp guide clientsas they develop local strategies.
• Coordinate with interlocuters at client cities,maintainingprofessional communication and fostering successful working relationships.

Qualifications of the ideal candidate

• Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of two years' relevant professional experience in affordable housing, urban planning, or public/non-profit administration.
• A strategic and analytical mindset with attention to detail and a complete focus on delivery.
• A proven track record of strong project execution, policy research, project management and results driven impact.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Clear and concise writing skills.
• Ability to convey complex data in simple PowerPoint design (ability to use Tableau software would also be helpful).
• Comfortable working through ambiguity to create paths forward.
• Experience working with high-level stakeholders with discretion and professionalism.
• An entrepreneurial self-starter can do approach with the ability to think and plan creatively.
• A quick learner, able to absorb and synthesize large amounts of information.
