Position Summary

Position Summary:

The position is a hands-on Laboratory Technician position with an emphasis on analytical and microbiological testing, conducting quality control tests, and performing general sustaining activities in the laboratory all related to the production of biopharmaceutical and filtration products.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:

Works within engineering and cross-functional teams within and/or across the business unit. This position does not have direct reports.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate and collect data using various analytical techniques such as SEM/EDS, FTIR, UV-Vis, Total Organic Carbons (TOC), Particle Size Analysis (PSA), Non-Volatile Residue (NVR), Material Characterization Testing, etc.
  • Performs routine microbiological testing such as endotoxin (LAL) testing, environmental monitoring (EM), nonviable particulates, bioburden, autoclave sterilization, and heterotrophic plate counts (HPC).
  • Provide support on research and development in the area of sensing devices, filters, lab systems, and other single use devices.
  • Perform root cause analysis on product failures, supports internal and external customer requests by providing timely results using Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Summarize information into laboratory reports using Good Document Practices (GDP) for customer facing applications, product validations, and support of internal production protocols.
  • Take stock of lab consumables (order more as needed), coordinate equipment calibrations, performs general laboratory upkeep such as washing glassware and managing chemical inventory and waste streams.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education, Credentials and Previous Experience:

  • Recent College Graduate with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular and Cellular Biology or a related STEM major is necessary to be considered. No prior work experience necessary.
  • Highly motivated to learn new skills, especially in the areas of microbiological testing, analytical analysis of organic and inorganic compounds, research and development, GDP/GLP/GMP, troubleshooting of products, processes, and equipment.
  • Detail oriented, with excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a laboratory and production environment with flexibility to work on a highly diverse range of assignments and prioritize as required by the business objective.
  • Ability to be self-managing and task focused.
  • Highly motivated and results oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, management, external vendors and customers.

    Technical Depth and Breadth:

  • Learn and maintains required skill and proficiency to successfully accomplish full job responsibilities; willingly takes on new assignments.

    Problem Solving and Analytical Skills:

  • In coordination with team members, initiate contact with other support groups to resolve problems.
  • Apply structured problem-solving skills to help drive improvement activities, Lean and Kaizen projects, HPT and TIB meetings.
  • Provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Consistently open to change and new ideas.
  • Application and knowledge of pareto charts, 5Y, Fish Bone Diagram and 10 Step Problem Solving.

  • Dependable, prompt and reliable with good overall attendance.

Pay, Benefits, Work Schedule

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $28/hr to $42/hr
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
