Job Summary

The Room Supervisor serves as the leader of the Afterschool Clubhouse room, creating a positive, safe, and engaging environment for children and staff.

The Room Supervisor provides guidance and support to counselors, oversees daily operations, ensures compliance with program policies, and serves as the primary liaison between the Clubhouse team and program leadership.



Job Responsibilities Include

    Implement a daily routine in the Clubhouse including- protocol for attendance and ensuring you know where all children and staff are at all times, structured activities, and time for free play.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for counselors by providing guidance, activity ideas, and program support.
  • Create and assist counselors with activity planning and implementation, that relate to the monthly themes.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, professional tone and culture within the room.
  • Support counselors in effectively managing children and daily routines.
  • Lead by example and model professional behavior and best practices.
  • Pick up children from their schools and ensure their safe arrival at the Afterschool program
  • Ensure children arrive at enrichment classes on time and are safely escorted throughout 92NY.
  • Monitor the safety, well-being, and behavior of all children in the Clubhouse community.
  • Ensure proper dismissal procedures are followed by verifying identification and releasing children only to authorized adults.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with program leadership regarding activities, concerns, incidents, and successes.
  • Complete incident reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Oversee attendance records, weekly reports, session evaluations, and other required recordkeeping.
  • Plan and map out projects and activities in advance to ensure program readiness.
  • Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings, training, and orientations.
  • Assist with staff orientation and onboarding.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Adhere to all program policies and procedures, including limited cell phone use during program hours (timers only).
  • Perform all responsibilities associated with the Afterschool Counselor role as needed.


Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Experience teaching specialty activity in a school, camp, or youth program environment
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks independently
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.


Work Environment & Requirements

Per Diem Compensation Range

$26-$30/hour

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
