Instructor of Anatomy
Department of Biomedical Sciences
University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus, is seeking an instructor to participate in teaching gross anatomy to medical students and graduate students and in maintaining and managing the gross anatomy lab. Candidates are expected to have at least one year of experience teaching human anatomy at the college or university level and an enthusiasm for instruction.

Responsibilities may include:
* Lab management duties related to gross anatomy lab
* Teaching human gross anatomy, human developmental anatomy, and imaging to first- and second-year medical students
* Working with a team of faculty in evaluation, innovative development, and integration of anatomy curriculum aimed at lecture- and non-lecture-based learning for first- and second-year medical students

Qualifications

Required qualifications:
* MS degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited institution
* One year of experience in teaching human anatomy at the college or university level

Preferred Qualifications:
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Potential for collaborative teaching with University of Minnesota faculty
* A demonstrated commitment to diversity and a demonstrated interest in training underrepresented minorities
* Use of lecture, small group, lab, PBL, and other non-lecture-based teaching methods
* Use of technology-based approaches to teaching anatomy
* Use of cadaveric specimen-based approach to teaching anatomy

About the Department

The Department of Biomedical Sciences is committed to fostering excellence in teaching and in multidisciplinary research. In addition, our programs are focused on training Native Americans and Underrepresented Minorities in research and health professional careers with a K-12 Native American Science Education outreach program and Native American and Minorities into Biomedical Research program (NIH Bridges) to facilitate a transition of underrepresented minorities from community colleges to undergraduate institutions. The department consists of 25 faculty with expertise in a wide range of disciplines, from molecular and cell biology to physiology, pharmacology, infectious diseases, and pathology. Our goal is the advancement of learning and knowledge through multidisciplinary scholarship; and delivery of the basic science curriculum for medical, graduate and undergraduate students.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $60,000 - $65,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
