Position Summary

The Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD) is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary position. Under the supervision of the College Counseling and Student Services, Transfer, Internship and Career Center, provide employer engagement for the department's efforts to manage, cultivate, and steward new and existing employer partners.

The Career Education projects maintain a focus on:

  • Increasing paid internship opportunities for Career Education students, particularly for Disproportionately Impacted (DI) populations (e.g., Native American, African American, Latinx, Asian American, and Pacific Islander)
  • Increasing enrollment in Cosumnes River College (CRC) Work Experience courses
  • Increasing employer participation in Work-Based Learning (WBL)


Typical Duties

This temporary position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Developing prospects for employer partners in consultation with college faculty and administrators.
  • Recruiting employers to provide paid internships and jobs for DI communities.
  • Recruiting employers for potential WBL opportunities, such as tours, classroom presentations and classroom activities, upon the request of Career Education faculty.
  • Coordinating and developing activities related to employer engagement consistent with the philosophy and strategic plan of CRC and LRCCD.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with multiple constituents, including employer partners, employer partner prospects, faculty, staff, and students, to increase understanding of internships, Work Experience, and WBL.

Employer Recruitment
  • Engaging with professional and industry associations (e.g., California Manufacturing Association, Chambers of Commerce, etc.) to promote WBL, internships and Work Experience programs.
  • Presenting at meetings when appropriate.
  • Promoting Career Education projects using Handshake career services platform and assisting employers in using features such as posting jobs, internships, and career events, etc.
Student Support
  • Supporting departments in serving WBL opportunities and DI students interested in internships.
  • Referring students to appropriate staff for job readiness support, such as resume help and interview practice.
  • Encouraging DI students to apply for positions through Handshake.
Coordination, Planning & Reporting
  • Applying employer engagement best practices, including those related to employers working with community college students, working with student populations with a strengths-based focus, supporting DI populations in the workplace, and the cultural wealth model.
  • Participating in college and districtwide meetings and collaborating with team members to share resources and coordinating efforts as appropriate.
  • Participating in professional development.
  • Tracking and recording all employer contacts and progress.
  • Reporting activities and progress toward goals and objectives as required by grants supporting internships at CRC.
Performing related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Completion of a bachelor's degree in an area related to the assignment.

Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Education must be from an accredited institution.
