Job Description

This position provides a high level of support to the Dean of the School of Medicine. A dean at the School of Medicine has a very high level of responsibility of a prestigious professional school, he/she needs to provide the utmost level of support. This position's focus is to be an extension of the dean and represent him/her when unavailable. This position will be expected to coordinate events, execute initiatives envisioned by the dean, and represent the dean in the most professional manner. This position is expected to understand all aspects of the School and how the departments function together to be able to provide solutions to problems that arise.

Key Responsibilities:
Provides daily executive-level support to the School of Medicine Dean.
This includes collaboration on sensitive/confidential issues regarding students/potential students/faculty, managing the dean's calendar, creating travel itineraries, drafting media communication, reviewing all approval requests: employment letters, hiring requests, requests for the dean as a speaker

Primary point of contact for the School of Medicine Dean:
Liaison to Volker campus for various matters, liaison to SOM Marketing Department, liaison to UMKC Health Sciences District; attending meetings with the dean (including creating meeting summaries and follow-up action items); participation in leadership meetings; point of contact for Hospital Affiliate leadership

Planning and coordinator of SOM events:
Holiday and staff receptions, visiting professor lecture series (completing appearance agreements, catering, consent to record, W-9, and marketing of events), two commencement ceremonies (in collaboration with Student Affairs), Hospital Hill Run

SOM communications:
Draft report for SOM to the Chancellor's Office regularly, prepare presentations and drafting messages issued by the dean; draft communication to Chancellor and Provost for miscellaneous requests

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience or its equivalent from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The starting salary is a minimum of $53,976 annually, commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
