Overview

TRC is seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) Senior Business Analyst & Technical Delivery Lead to join our strategic business and digital advisory team. The ideal candidate will combine deep EHS&S domain knowledge with strong skills in requirements engineering, solution architecture support, configuration/implementation of EHS&S software (including EMIS platforms), and data/analytics tools.

This role is primarily focused on translating EHS&S business needs into robust technical solutions and leading the delivery lifecycle, with selective client-facing activities for requirements discovery, solution validation, and stakeholder alignment. The position is primarily travel for on-site client/prospect visits and TRC/ industry marketing events.

This is a part-time/temporary position.


Responsibilities

  1. Technical Business Analysis & Solution Design
  • Conduct detailed business and systems analysis for EHS&S initiatives, with a focus on digital tools and platforms.
  • Lead structured requirements elicitation using interviews, workshops, surveys, and process mapping to capture business, functional, non-functional, and integration requirements for EHS&S software solutions.
  • Translate EHS&S business needs into:
    • Detailed functional specifications.
    • Technical user stories and acceptance criteria.
    • Data models, interface specifications, and reporting/analytics requirements.
  • Collaborate with solution architects and technical teams to design scalable, secure, and compliant EHS&S digital solutions, including EMIS and related platforms.
  • Analyze current-state EHS&S processes and systems, identify gaps, and define future-state workflows and system configurations aligned with maturity improvements.
  • Ensure traceability from business requirements through design, configuration, testing, and deployment.
  1. Technical Software Delivery & Implementation
  • Lead and coordinate the end-to-end delivery of EHS&S software solutions, including EMIS and supporting digital tools.
  • Oversee configuration, customization, and integration activities in collaboration with internal technical teams and vendor resources.
  • Use project management tools to manage:
    • Technical delivery plans.
    • Sprint/release schedules.
    • Resource allocation for technical roles.
  • Define and manage technical implementation tasks such as:
    • System configuration and environment setup.
    • Data migration and data quality validation.
    • Interface development and integration testing.
    • Report/dashboard development leveraging tools such as Power BI, etc.
  • Establish and maintain technical documentation, including solution design documents, configuration guides, integration specifications, and support runbooks.
  • Join projects mid-flight when needed, quickly assess technical status and risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure successful outcomes for both the client and TRC.
  1. Quality Assurance, Testing, and Release Management
  • Define test strategies and plans for EHS&S digital solutions, including unit, system, integration, and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop test cases and scripts based on detailed functional and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate and support UAT with client stakeholders, ensuring defects are logged, triaged, and resolved prior to go-live.
  • Support release planning and deployment activities, including cutover plans, rollback strategies, and post-go-live stabilization.
  • Monitor technical performance and reliability of deployed solutions and coordinate remediation activities as needed.
  1. Targeted Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a primary technical-facing liaison for clients on EHS&S digital initiatives, ensuring clear communication of solution capabilities, constraints, and implementation approaches.
  • Facilitate requirements and design workshops with business and IT stakeholders, including senior staff and executive leadership when needed.
  • Present solution designs, technical roadmaps, and implementation progress to client stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into business-relevant language.
  • Support up-selling and cross-selling of TRC's broader digital and EHS&S services by identifying technical enhancement opportunities within existing client environments.
  • Maintain strong client relationships focused on ongoing optimization and extension of EHS&S digital platforms.
  1. Program Advisory & Digital Strategy Support
  • Support EHSS PE Program Directors in advising clients on digital EHS&S strategies, platform selection, and technical architecture options.
  • Contribute technical input to business transformation roadmaps, including system consolidation, data strategy, and analytics enablement.
  • Stay current with EHS&S regulations, standards, and best practices and translate them into system requirements and configuration patterns.
  • Apply organizational change management principles to technical deployments, ensuring user adoption through training, support materials, and feedback loops.
  • Develop and deliver technical training sessions, solution demos, and configuration workshops for clients and internal teams.
  • Create and maintain reusable technical assets (templates, configuration patterns, integration frameworks, case studies) to accelerate future EHS&S digital implementations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Information Systems, or a related field;
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a similar role with a strong focus on EHS&S and EHS&S-specific digital tools, including hands-on involvement in software implementation and technical delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing one or more EMIS commercial software platforms, including configuration, integration, and reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in business analysis for software projects:
    • Requirements elicitation and documentation.
    • Process modeling and workflow design.
    • User story and acceptance criteria development.
  • Proven experience managing scope, schedule, and budget for technology enhancement/deployment projects using project management software and tools.
  • Familiarity with data and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL-based reporting, or similar) and their application to EHS&S metrics and dashboards.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional technical teams, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant EHS&S regulations, standards, best practices and the ability to translate them into system requirements and configurations.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
