Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Executive Director for Finance and Administgration and with a high degree of independence and autonomy on a day-to-day basis, oversee the Library's business office and facilities activities. Provide leadership and management for general ledger accounting, purchasing, and travel. Primary finance manager and compliance officer for all financial activity. Initiate and oversee process improvement projects and ensure communication and training to all library personnel regarding business operations. Oversee library facilities operations and coordinate facilities projects. Provide daily operational management of the Library's business office, including direct supervision of finance, facilities and administrative staff to assure accountability and stewardship of departmental resources in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. RECRUITMENT PERIOD ONE MONTH: Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the removal date. - Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Experience managing business services, accounting activity, and establishing internal controls in a multi-fund source, public service environment. Professional level of administrative and analytical experience overseeing business activities for finance including purchasing, travel and entertainment, and payroll.
- Experience in planning, implementing, and communicating process improvements to enhance work processes and systems, and to ensure compliance and internal controls.
- Experience in personnel management including staffing resource assessment, recruitment, training and development, work assignment, supervision, team building, performance evaluation, corrective/disciplinary action, and conflict resolution.
- Experience providing leadership and decision making to solve problems and to evaluate business needs and critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex data and develop meaningful solutions to specific problems.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality of personnel, payroll, or other sensitive issues and exercise discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting policies and procedures in a multi-fund source environment.
- Skills working with complex spreadsheets, databases, and web-based accounting and information systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma green belt.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with physical space/assets (equipment and furniture, space utilization, facilities maintenance, and mailroom services), and experience managing/overseeing business operations support functions (centralized administrative assistance, calendaring/scheduling, event logistics).
- Interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service skills and ability to deliver training, to effectively communicate and interact across the organization at all levels to communicate complex information, ideas, and issues, and ensure compliance with UCD policy and procedures.
- Knowledge of UCD procedures and systems (Aggie Enterprise, Pre Purchasing (OPP), Cognos, AggieExpense, UCPath, TRS, FacilitiesLink, AggieFacilities, etc.)

Work Environment UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
