We are looking for a Material Specialist/ Metal Process (Day shift -Weekends) to join our Ontonagon, MI Team working a 3-day workweek!

The Material Specialist/ Metal Process position is responsible for executing shipping and receiving operations independently and will cut and form raw materials on a variety of machines as needed based on shop orders and print directions. This person will demonstrate the ability to meet routed hours with acceptable quality while demonstrating safety in the workplace. This role also provides training and daily guidance to team members, helping the department meet goals for safety, quality, schedule and cost while demonstrating the ability to meet quality routed hours.


MAJOR DUTIES
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and rigging equipment safely
  • Move materials between internal and external operations
  • Kit jobs per instructions and perform accurate inventory transactions
  • Package outgoing shipments and ensure material preservation/identification
  • Load and unload delivery trucks efficiently
  • Generate and process paperwork for shipments
  • Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Mentor and assist entry-level personnel in shipping/receiving
  • Reconcile and correct inventory counts in ERP systems
  • Troubleshoot issues and schedule shipments with carriers
  • Assist preventive maintenance on machines (OPM's)
  • independently operate the following: burner, brake, clean/grind, hand burn, saw, shear/punch press with a high level of quality
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Metal Fabrication experience strong plus
  • Manufacturing and production environment experience
  • Basic understanding of supply chain processes
  • Ability to read blueprints, apply math, and use measuring devices
  • Proficiency with computers, Windows navigation, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ERP systems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs.
  • Long periods of standing, bending, and crouching
  • Use of ladders to reach shelves and trays
  • Perform duties outside for long periods of time
