Job Description
General Purpose of Job: Responsible for the management of the patient care area 24 hours per day. Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates all intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities related to department. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Plans, implements, direct, delegates and evaluates patient care throughout department(s).
- Expert resource for nursing performance and ancillary staff consultant.
- Recommends, develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures.
- Assures regulatory compliance.
- Interviews, hires, and provides direction, appraisal, and discipline to nursing personnel.
- Plans, develops and implements annual competency evaluation for nursing personnel.
- Develops work schedules as assigned, adjusts daily schedules as needed.
- Participates in performance improvement, staff and patient education activities, and documentation.
- Promotes cost effectiveness, develops budget for department with Director and approval of CNO.
- Ensures distribution and delivery of supplies and equipment for patient care, monitoring utilization.
- Responds to all emergencies and disasters within the organization.
- Conducts and documents daily rounding throughout the department and with patients.
- Monthly documented caregiver rounds.
Job Requirements
| General Requirements |
* Current License in the State of Michigan as an RN * ACLS * PALS, TNCC preferred |
| Work Experience |
* Minimum of five years Med/Surg nursing experience. * Minimum of three years increasing responsibility in healthcare setting * Intermediate or Critical Care experience preferred |
| Education |
* Graduate of an accredited nursing program * Bachelor's or advanced degree in nursing * Master's degree or advanced degree in nursing preferred |
| Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective interpersonal skills. * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and strong attention to detail. |
