Description

Leidos is seeking a McMurdo Facilities Maintenance Planner to support the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) in assistance with the United States Antarctic Program (USAP) and play a crucial role in ensuring that all maintenance activities are efficiently scheduled and executed, which helps maximize equipment reliability and minimize operational costs. By proactively managing maintenance tasks and tracking inventory resupply, they will contribute significantly to the overall efficiency and productivity of the station's facilities maintenance department. This position will deploy during the austral summer to McMurdo Station to lead or assist in coordinating Deferred, Major and Corrective Maintenance work.

*** This position requires deployment to Antarctica and has a contract length of 4-5 months from approximately October to February (Austral Summer). While deployed, the standard work schedule for this position is 54 hours per week. The candidate in the position must complete the physical and dental examinations required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action. ***

  • Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.

  • Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date. This process could take up to 4 months.

  • Current driver's license is required for this role.

WORK LOCATION: When CONUS at the ASC Project Office in Centennial, CO or Remotely from home. When DEPLOYED at McMurdo Station, Antarctica.

HOURS OF OPERATION: When CONUS: Adjustable between 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Mountain Time, 40-hour work week. When DEPLOYED: Six days a week, 9-hour days for a 54-hour work week.

EDUCATION: GED or more advanced education in technical associates degree, college degree or Journeyman or Master Trade License.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and Schedule Maintenance Relevant Work: Develop detailed maintenance schedules based on equipment needs, workload, and priorities to ensure timely execution of maintenance tasks.

  • Develop and Mature Preventive Maintenance Plans: Partnering with the facilities engineer and leadership, create and implement preventive maintenance strategies to reduce equipment failures and downtime. Utilize reliability engineering techniques.

  • Interface with Facilities Leadership and Crafts on Work Planning and Execution: Provide input to facilities engineering and leadership on maintenance activities.

  • KPI and Reporting Provide scope tasking and bills of materials to the facilities leadership team

  • Coordinate with Facility Engineers and Teams: Work closely with maintenance staff and other departments to ensure that all necessary resources, such as tools and spare parts, are available for maintenance activities.

  • Manage Inventory: Oversee the inventory of repair parts and tools, ensuring that necessary supplies are ordered and available when needed. Analyze inventory to support planned and scheduled maintenance.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Organization & Planning: The ability to execute thorough job walk-downs, write step-by-step tasks ensuring safe and efficient work.

  • Technical Expertise: A foundational understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, asset lifecycles, and preventive/predictive maintenance. A strong ability to read drawings and component identify.

  • Software Proficiency: Mastery of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo or a similar enterprise system to build work orders, track job history, and manage the spare parts inventory.

  • Communication & Coordination: Diplomatic communication is crucial for negotiating equipment downtime with leadership, coordinating with stakeholders, and gathering feedback from maintenance technicians.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in leadership, maintenance planning or a similar role is required in addition to actual field experience.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of maintenance processes, equipment, and safety regulations is essential.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule tasks efficiently to maximize reliability.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in leading teams to the successful completion of specific maintenance objectives.

  • Computer Skills: Proficient with use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge and Certifications

  • Experience: Prior deployments to Antarctica with the USAP

  • Computer: Knowledge and use of Maximo purchasing, inventory and maintenance modules

  • Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional, CMRP

  • Experience in deployment: To Antarctica or other austere environments

Expected SALARY RANGE: $110K-$125K
