Position Summary:

The Research Laboratory Technician I will provide technical and operational support for an active biomedical research project in the Department of Pharmacy Sciences. The position will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator(s) and research team to assist with routine laboratory experiments, mammalian cell culture maintenance, biochemical and cell-based assays, data collection, documentation, and general laboratory operations. The project involves laboratory-based studies evaluating cellular responses relevant to cardiovascular pharmacology, lipid biology, drug-related cardiac outcomes, and cell-based disease modeling, with emphasis on cell health, stress-related pathways, and assay-based outcome measures.

This temporary position is well suited for a recent graduate or early-career research professional interested in biomedical research, pharmacology, cardiovascular science, toxicology, cell biology, or preparation for graduate, medical, pharmacy, or other health professional programs.

This position is funded for approximately 6 months. Once funding has been exhausted, the position will end.

Essential Functions:

35% Assist ith routine mammalian cell culture maintenance and related experimental procedures; prepare assay plates, samples, and laboratory materials according to standardized protocols.

25% Perform standard biochemical, enzyme-based, molecular, and cell-based assays under supervision; collect, organize, and enter experimental data accurately.

15% Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and electronic research records; assist with data quality control, tracking assay variability, replicate completion, protocol deviations, and basic data summaries.

15% Prepare reagents, buffers, cell lysates, and other laboratory materials; maintain laboratory inventory, order supplies, track reagent use, and coordinate with vendors as needed.

10% Assist with laboratory safety procedures, waste disposal, equipment maintenance, and compliance with institutional research policies; uphold Creighton core values, ethical standards, and inclusive working and learning environment expectations.

5% Participate in regular project meetings and assist with preparation of research materials for reports, presentations, abstracts, posters, manuscripts, or grant-related documents as appropriate.

Education & Experience:

Required: Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, molecular biology, cell biology, toxicology, or a closely related field. Laboratory coursework or hands-on experience in biological, biomedical, biochemical, or pharmaceutical sciences. Ability to follow written protocols accurately and consistently and maintain organized experimental records.

Preferred: Experience with mammalian cell culture, sterile technique, plate-reader-based assays, biochemical/molecular/cell-based assays, basic microscopy, laboratory notebooks, inventory management, data summaries, and software such as Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism, R, or similar tools. Prior work in an academic research laboratory is desirable.

* Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

* Ability to work independently after training and collaboratively as part of a research team.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

* Professionalism, reliability, and commitment to laboratory safety, compliance, and an inclusive, collaborative research environment.

Licenses/Certifications:

No specific license or certification required. Completion of required institutional laboratory safety, compliance, and responsible conduct of research trainings will be required after hire.
