Essential Job Duties
Duties include:

  • Operates and maintains GC-MS, GC, anaerobic chambers, biosafety cabinets, flow cytometer, plate readers, spectrophotometers, and other laboratory equipment as needed
  • Performs cultivation of archaea/bacteria and develops customized biological and chemical assays
  • Performs technical laboratory procedures that include but are not limited to gas chromatography, mass spec, flow cytometry, PCR, and extraction and gel electrophoresis of DNA, RNA, and protein
  • Maintains laboratory notebooks, records, and analyzes experimental data
  • Develops and validates new procedures or follows established procedures and properly record results
  • Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports and manuscripts
  • Assists in training users of shared equipment located in the laboratory
  • Helps with laboratory management

  • Relevant Master's degree or Relevant Bachelor's and 3 or more years of relevant experience, or relevant independent experience and education
Department Required Skills

  • Experience working in a Higher Ed research laboratory environment
  • 5 years of laboratory experience

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Experience supporting microbial, molecular biology, or related biological research programs
  • Experience with laboratory organization, sample processing, data collection, and research support activities
  • Experience working in PMB or a comparable academic research environment

Required License or Certification
  • Valid driver's license
