Position Summary


The Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of complex engineering and field service projects within the commercial nuclear industry. This position manages projects from proposal development through final contract closeout, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


The successful candidate will work directly with customers, field personnel, subcontractors, and internal engineering teams to deliver specialty projects in demanding nuclear environments. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small-company environment. This position is expected to independently manage multiple concurrent projects and support field execution activities that may require periodic travel and schedule flexibility during customer outages.


Primary Responsibilities


Project Management



  • Lead projects from proposal development through final contract closeout
  • Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Maintain accurate project reporting and forecasting


Customer Management



  • Serve as the primary customer interface throughout project execution
  • Lead customer meetings and progress reviews
  • Manage requirements, scope changes, and contractual obligations
  • Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships


Field Operations



  • Plan and support domestic and international field service activities
  • Select, coordinate, and manage field service personnel and subcontractors
  • Provide on-site leadership during project execution and outage activities
  • Coordinate logistics, mobilization, and demobilization activities
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of field issues


Financial Management



  • Develop project estimates and spend plans
  • Monitor project budgets and cost performance
  • Prepare project forecasts and financial reports
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities


Proposal and Business Support



  • Support proposal development and pricing activities
  • Participate in contract negotiations and project initiation activities
  • Assist with strategic planning and business growth initiatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes


Qualifications


Education


Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical degree from an accredited university.


Experience



  • 5 to 12 years of project management experience in technical industries
  • Experience managing engineering projects and field execution activities
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing customer relationships
  • Commercial nuclear industry experience strongly preferred
  • Commercial nuclear outage experience highly preferred
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar projects preferred


Technical Skills



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Strong project scheduling and planning capabilities
  • Experience with project cost tracking and forecasting
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience with proposal development and project estimating preferred


Additional Requirements



  • Ability to obtain unescorted access at commercial nuclear facilities
  • Ability to qualify as a radiation worker
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in a small, fast-paced business environment where flexibility and ownership are essential
