Position Summary
The position will utilize hiPSC-derived cardiovascular cells to model cardiovascular diseases in vitro, investigating anticancer therapy-induced toxicity and identifying mitigation strategies. Additionally, the incumbent will establish robust in vivo/in vitro models and develop epigenetic assay technologies to explore the regulatory mechanisms of cardiovascular pathology. Research will be conducted in the Department of Pharmacology & Regenerative Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Formulate experimental protocols, data collection frameworks, and statistical analysis plans.
  • Perform experiments including stem cell culture and differentiation, molecular biology, and in vivo studies.
  • Draft high-impact manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at major national and international conferences.
  • Assist principal investigator in mentoring postdocs and students on study design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
  • Assist principal investigator in grant and manuscript submission.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Pharmacology, Biomedical Science, or a related field.
    • A minimum of 4 years of related research experience.
    • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
    • Proficient in iPSC culture, cardiovascular cell differentiation techniques, and animal experimental procedures.
