Department Summary The UCLA Chemistry & Biochemistry Department has a tradition of excellence and is ranked among the best in the country, as evidenced by the quality of its programs, the caliber of its faculty, and the excellence of its students. The Department is a leader in cutting-edge research and innovative educational programs. The Department employs over 50 professors pursuing research in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. The goals of this research include synthesizing complex natural products and new nano-materials required to solve the many health and environmental crises facing our planet, and illuminating the molecular mechanisms that regulate the decoding of genetic information. Position Summary Under supervision, the successful candidate will perform technical laboratory work related to their project. This will include but not be limited to the facilitation of experiments led by senior lab personnel. The successful candidate may also receive training to carry out specialized laboratory tasks. Tasks may also include administrative duties such as maintenance of experimental or analysis notes, a lab notebook, data entry of results, ordering of supplies, office work, and inventory. The successful candidate may also be expected to perform tasks that require ideation and testing of ideas under continuing input and supervision from Professor Rodriguez. The successful candidate is expected to gain or possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to complete successful performance of the duties assigned and a strong background in physical biochemistry and structural biology. The skills, knowledge, and abilities required to perform these tasks will be gained through a combination of extensive study and hands-on experience. There is no clinical work associated with this position Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range.
