HDR is currently seeking a Transit Section Manager to join our Minnesota/Wisconsin team.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Transit Section Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Lead a team of transit staff supporting projects related to bus rapid transit, passenger rail, commuter rail, light rail, and streetcar systems and facilities
  • Manage and work on projects
  • Collaborate with Freight Rail and Freight and Transportation Facilities teams on a regular basis to coordinate on workload planning, marketing, and project development
  • Take responsibility for operations of production of the section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support
  • Coordinate staffing with Area Market Sector/Business Class/Professional Services Leaders
  • Work cooperatively with local and national Market Sector/Business Class/Professional Services leadership in coordinating and reporting on local and national marketing/production effort
  • Participate in strategic growth initiatives
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
  • Plan and manage team overhead budget
  • Work with business group managers, business development leaders, area market sector leads, accounting, project coordinators, and management as necessary for project delivery
  • Function in various project roles such as Principal in Charge, Project Manager, Subject Matter Expert or Advisor on projects in addition to management responsibilities
  • Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections
  • Collaborate with Area Transit Market Sector Lead and be involved in marketing, planning, proposals, negotiations and interviews
  • Be directly involved with public clients in marketing, project production and related issues
  • See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management
  • Develop staff's project management skills
  • Assist with workshare management with other Areas
  • Assist PMs with Commercial and Risk Management
  • Implement, monitor and support company policy
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop and manage technical personnel
  • Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain a working knowledge of public agencies in Minnesota and Wisconsin
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 10 years experience
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Minnesota: $128,331 - $183,330
