HDR has an excellent career opportunity in our Florida Area for a professional to lead the development and growth of our Florida Area Federal Water (FW) Market Sector (MS) and in Puerto Rico. The Florida Federal Water Market Sector Lead (MSL) is a professional who is passionate about protecting public health and safety, is well-versed in the procurement and project/contract management for federal agencies (e.g. USACE, NAVFAC, NPS), and is actively engaged in professional organizations such as the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) that enable a strong understanding of Federal needs and drivers. We are looking for someone who will work in a collaborative manner with local, regional, and national leadership to set the vision and strategy for federal water related services including planning, detailed design, construction services, and other engineering services for Federal clients. As a MSL, the successful candidate will participate in internal strategic planning, budgeting, and plan implementation for the Florida Area. As a leader and mentor to junior staff, the successful candidate will engage in and encourage technical involvement in industry organizations and functions including presentations and publications. The candidate will also participate in discussions and facilitate lessons learned for project delivery processes, trends, successes, strengths, and weaknesses.
The Florida Federal Water MSL will report to the Area Water Business Group (WBG) Manager and partner with our Area Business Development Manager, Professional Services Lead, Client Managers, Project Managers, Business Class (BC) Leads, and technical staff to support Federal Water MS business development and project delivery in the area. The Federal Water MSL will also engage with the national Federal Water Market Sector Director for strategic alignment and establishment of initiatives. Primary responsibilities for the Federal Water Market Sector Lead include:
- Partner with the FL WBG Business Development Manager for Market Sector activities such as planning and strategizing for growth
- Lead the implementation of the Federal Water MS strategic initiatives for Florida and Puerto Rico
- Responsible for growth of the Federal Water MS
- Lead area-level market sector communications
- Partner with Florida WBG leadership and the FL WBG Manager to manage project staffing, workload and technical development of staff
- Coordinate a strategy and engagement in professional organizations
- Partner with national, regional and area BC leaders for planning and implementation of strategic initiatives
- Serve as a Project Manager or Principal in Charge for key Federal Water MS projects with strategic clients
- Serve as a technical resource through quality reviews for our Federal Water MS clients
- Lead recruitment of Federal Water MS staff for growth and delivery success
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 years of Water Resources Management market sector leadership experience
- 10 years of combined experience with contract management, project delivery, and project management with the US Army Corps of Engineers
- Florida Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain via reciprocity within six months of start date. Maintain engineering registration
- Experience with design delivery and project management for Dams, Levees, Civil Works, and other Water Resource Management projects
- Ability to travel to client/project meetings/sites within Florida and Puerto Rico
- Ability to travel to industry organization events/conferences within the US
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field
- A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
- Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services
- Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits
- Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth
- Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector
- Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers
- Demonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
