Waste Control, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a Missed Garbage Route Driver to join the team in Longview, Washington! This route varies from day to day. Missed pick-up drivers are dispatched out to customer accounts that have been missed by a Garbage Truck Driver, to service containers. This position also delivers new customer containers/carts and performs minor repairs on containers.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm with Occasional Overtime.
Rate of pay is $22.98/HR
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver, place, remove, and exchange containers at customer locations safely and efficiently
- Perform minor container repairs and report maintenance issues as needed
- Ensure proper placement and securement of containers to meet safety and customer requirements
- Ability to read route sheets or tablet and service each customer assigned by the dispatcher
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (fluids, safety equipment, lights, tire pressure)
- Operate hydraulic hand controls
- Provide courteous, professional interaction with customers
Requirements:
- Ability to work a physically demanding job.; Loading and unloading.
- Willingness to submit to and pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening test
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports to complete daily assignments
- Valid Driver's license required
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report
- Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Working knowledge of D.O.T. laws

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required objects over 50 pounds.
- Automatic Side Load Truck
- Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts. Which requires following basic safety precautions.
- The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
