JOB SUMMARY:

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, and service, seeks dynamic applicants who can engage and inspire a diverse student body as an adjunct instructor in the Art History program of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. This one-semester position ranges from August 19 - December 4, 2026 with the potential for renewal.

This position entails teaching ARTH 2150/3150 High Renaissance Art in Italy.

Adjunct Instructors are responsible for course planning and instruction. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluation, and timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction.

Qualifications:

Candidates must:

• Hold a Master of Arts or Ph.D. degree in Art History or related field
• Have experience teaching the art of the Renaissance period in Italy
• Have an ability to deliver high-level instruction to University students as is required for their degree program, as well as to students who are non-majors and non-minors with varying degrees of experience.

ADJUNCT FACULTY UNION INFORMATION

On May 2, 2017, adjunct faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences and School of Education represented by the Service Employees International Union Local 1 (SEIU) voted to ratify a five-year collective bargaining agreement with Saint Louis University.

The contract reflects Saint Louis University's ongoing commitment to its faculty, staff, and students. It builds upon the strong foundation established by Saint Louis University while providing the flexibility needed to address organizational and programmatic changes as part of the ongoing operational excellence program.
