Overview/ Job Responsibilities
Entarian is seeking an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of secure cloud solutions supporting complex Department of Defense and federal mission systems. The Cloud Solutions Architect serves as the technical authority for cloud architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and compliant with government cybersecurity and accreditation requirements. This role partners closely with systems engineers, software developers, cybersecurity personnel, DevSecOps teams, and government stakeholders to design cloud environments that support mission operations across hybrid and cloud-native infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting large-scale technical environments involving cloud platforms, space systems, mission operations, communications networks, enterprise IT, or classified government systems.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead the architecture and design of secure cloud solutions supporting Department of Defense and federal mission systems.
- Develop cloud architectures supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud and hybrid cloud environments while ensuring alignment with mission, security, and operational requirements.
- Provide technical leadership during solution design, architecture reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer working groups.
- Design highly available, fault-tolerant, and resilient cloud infrastructures supporting mission-critical applications and distributed operations.
- Develop Disaster Recovery (DR), Continuity of Operations (COOP), backup, and high-availability architectures to support mission resilience and recovery objectives.
- Define cloud networking architectures, identity and access management strategies, security boundaries, connectivity solutions, and infrastructure patterns for government environments.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure cloud solutions support RMF requirements, Zero Trust principles, and applicable government security policies.
- Develop and deliver architecture documentation including solution architectures, reference architectures, network diagrams, infrastructure designs, implementation roadmaps, and migration strategies.
- Support IL5 and IL6 cloud accreditation efforts by developing architecture documentation and providing technical artifacts required for authorization packages and accreditation activities.
- Coordinate the transition and hand-off of accreditation artifacts, architecture documentation, security configurations, and engineering products to Information System Security Engineers (ISSEs), Information System Security Managers (ISSMs), and government cybersecurity organizations.
- Collaborate with DevSecOps, infrastructure, software engineering, and systems engineering teams to ensure cloud architectures are effectively implemented and maintained.
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies, services, and architectural patterns to improve scalability, security, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Identify technical risks, architectural gaps, and integration challenges while recommending mitigation strategies and modernization opportunities.
- Support executive briefings, architecture reviews, proposal activities, and customer engagements.
Salary range: $150,000.00 - $188,000.00
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience designing and implementing enterprise cloud solutions supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or federal government environments.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience designing solutions within AWS GovCloud or comparable government cloud environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing hybrid cloud architectures integrating cloud services with on-premises infrastructure.
- Experience supporting Impact Level 5 (IL5) and/or Impact Level 6 (IL6) cloud environments and associated accreditation activities.
- Experience developing cloud architecture documentation supporting RMF authorization packages and government accreditation requirements.
- Experience designing Disaster Recovery (DR), high availability, business continuity, backup, and resilient cloud architectures.
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, VPC design, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, Identity and Access Management (IAM), storage services, compute services, and security services.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar automation frameworks.
- Strong understanding of cloud security architecture, Zero Trust, RMF, NIST guidance, encryption, identity management, and secure cloud design principles.
