About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team focused on student data analysis in areas of enrollment management and student success. The Data Analyst reports to the Director of BI and Analytics in the Office of Data, Assessment, and Institutional Research (DAIR) and will provided focused support to the Divisions of Enrollment Management (VPEM) of Academic Success and Student Affairs (VP-DASSA) in areas of data collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to student recruitment, progress, outcomes, and engagement to inform strategies aimed at improving student recruitment and retention, graduation rates, and overall academic success. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience working with large data sets, and a passion for using data to drive meaningful changes in higher education.

Worksite Description

This position is Hybrid eligible. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a combination of on-campus and remote work during a typical business week.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience. Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager. The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the quantitative expertise, statistical methodologies and technical proficiency necessary to manage complex datasets, perform advanced analyses and generate insights that inform organizational strategies and external reporting. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential experience inherent in a formal degree program.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Education, Social Sciences, or related field.
    • Master's degree


  • Experience

    • Experience (2-3 years) as a Data Analyst, preferably in higher education or a related field with a focus on student data analysis, such as admission, student success, retention, or institutional research.
    • Strong experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS, Python).
    • Experience querying databases and creating data models
    • Familiarity with student information systems (SIS) and CRM, and Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Banner, PeopleSoft, Slate, or Canvas is preferred.


  • Skills

    • Proficient in data cleaning, data transformation, and creating dashboards/reports to present insights.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
    • Experience with predictive analytics and statistical modeling.
    • Ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Attention to detail and commitment to data quality and integrity.
    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups.


  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Power BI Experience
    • Snowflake Experience
    • Knowledge of best practices in enrollment management, student retention, academic advising, and student success initiatives.
    • Experience with machine learning techniques or advanced predictive analytics.
    • Familiarity with data privacy and ethical considerations in handling student data.
