Job Title: Tools and Parts Attendant

Job Summary

Support facilities maintenance operations at FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station by managing the procurement, receipt, storage, issuance, and inventory control of maintenance tools, equipment, parts, and consumable materials. As DAWSON's Tools and Parts Attendant, you will ensure maintenance personnel have the tools and materials necessary to safely and efficiently perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair activities while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting supply chain operations.

Responsibilities



  • Procure maintenance materials, repair parts, tools, equipment, and consumable supplies in accordance with company purchasing procedures and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery schedules for required materials.
  • Receive, inspect, verify, and stock incoming shipments to ensure accuracy and identify damaged or incorrect items.
  • Maintain organized inventory of tools, parts, and supplies within stockrooms and tool storage areas.
  • Issue tools, equipment, and materials to maintenance personnel and maintain accountability through inventory tracking systems.
  • Monitor inventory levels and proactively reorder stock to maintain appropriate minimum and maximum inventory quantities.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventories and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and inventory management systems.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, receiving, inventory, and issuance records utilizing computerized inventory management or CMMS systems.
  • Track material usage, tool accountability, warranties, and repair history as applicable.
  • Coordinate repair, calibration, or replacement of company-owned tools and equipment.
  • Ensure hazardous materials and controlled items are properly labeled, stored, and managed in accordance with OSHA, EPA, manufacturer requirements, and contract specifications.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized warehouse, stockroom, and tool crib operations.
  • Support emergency maintenance operations by expediting procurement of critical repair materials.
  • Assist maintenance supervisors with forecasting material requirements for preventive maintenance schedules and repair projects.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications



  • Experience in tool room operations, inventory control, purchasing, supply support, or maintenance material management.
  • Experience procuring maintenance materials, repair parts, and industrial supplies preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and facility maintenance materials and components.
  • Experience using computerized inventory management systems and/or Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, parts breakdowns, and manufacturer catalogs to identify replacement components.
  • Strong organizational, recordkeeping, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests while supporting maintenance operations.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform work in warehouse and outdoor environments.
  • High school diploma or GED required.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience supporting federal facilities maintenance or government service contracts.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition, purchasing, or property accountability practices.


Additional Requirements



  • Must be able to obtain a favorable adjudication via a DHS background investigation and maintain suitability clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.
  • This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid driver's license in good standing is a condition of employment.
    • Employee must comply with all Company vehicle use and safety policies and applicable traffic laws.
    • The Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles.
    • Employee must immediately notify the Company if their driver's license is suspended, revoked, restricted, expires, or if driving privileges otherwise change.


  • Work Hours are 0700 - 1600 with availability to support emergency procurement requirements outside normal work hours when operationally necessary.
