Position Overview

The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This list of duties is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all the functions and responsibilities performed.

Position Summary:
The employee will manage and maintain the daily operations of the Testing Services front office. The employee will assist in the administration and proctoring of various examinations, including University Outcomes assessments, computer-based tests, distance education examinations, placement tests, proctored examinations, and other assessments as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general office duties, including greeting and assisting visitors, examinees, faculty, staff, and students; responding to email and telephone inquiries in a timely manner; and maintaining records through typing, filing, and data entry.
  • Assist students, faculty, staff, and the general public in locating and utilizing computer-based resources and provide testing and proctoring services.
  • Coordinate and administer online placement tests, distance education examinations, and other proctored testing services.
  • Provide basic computer maintenance, troubleshooting, networking support, and software updates as needed for ATI, CDL, CLEP, Certiport, HiSET, PSI/FAA, Pearson VUE, and placement examinations.

Marginal Functions:
  • Assist with the completion of documents submitted by external agencies, including New Mexico Youth Challenge, Roswell Job Corps, Chaves County Youth Detention Center, Roswell Human Services Department, and other third-party agencies.
  • Travel, as necessary, to Artesia, Dexter, Ruidoso, and other service areas to promote the services offered by the Testing Services Department.
  • Assist in administering University Outcomes assessments and examinations, including ATI, Microsoft Office, and FAA examinations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of computer technologies, software applications, and testing platforms related to assessment and testing functions.
  • Assist the Testing Program Specialist in maintaining inventories of laboratory and testing equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One year of general office or related experience.

Preferred:
  • Experience working with students and/or the general public in a customer service environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse testing environment.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow multiple testing policies and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in common software applications.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software, testing platforms, software updates, and system conversions.

Working Conditions

  • The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently sits and occasionally stands or walks. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements for this position include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
