Position Highlights

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arizona and Banner University Medical Center-Tucson seeks a qualified candidate to lead the Pediatric Nephrology group as Division Chief at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor (NTE/TE). The incumbent will oversee several activities including resident and medical student education, and clinical research.

The Division Chief of Pediatric Nephrology will report to the Department Chair of Pediatrics and lead the Division's strategic, clinical, academic and operational goals. They will provide leadership, quality oversight, and direction, defining the scope of practice in line with Banner Medical Center and the College of Medicine - Tucson. The successful applicant will bring a track record of unique subspecialty clinical expertise; leadership in clinical and educational enterprises.

The successful candidate will meet the requirements of a tenure track or career track faculty according to the College and University guidelines.
If selected for a career-track appointment, the appointment will not be eligible for tenure.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide
    strategic leadership and management of day-to-day operations and set a
    clear vision and execution of short- and long-term growth, value and
    service for the Division with a spirit of innovation, while maintaining
    appropriate standards of care and in balance with the multiple,
    tripartite mission of the University.
  • Provide direct patient care in the inpatient setting as a licensed and fully credentialed provider as a member of BUMG.
  • Oversee the members of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology Medicine ensuring adequate weekday and call coverage and the delivery of timely, high-quality clinical care.
  • Strategically recruit and retain talented faculty to support clinical growth, expand the Division's
    research footprint, improve the national reputation of the Division at
    the University of Arizona and Banner Health, and ensure excellence in
    the education and training of medical students, residents and fellows.
  • Represent the Division in the areas of financial performance, faculty career development, research, education and clinical care. Achieve local, regional and national visibility and prominence in the subspecialty.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lead clinics and educational programs.
  • Ability to collaborate; Encouraging collaborative scientific endeavors.
  • Ability to train, guide and supervise trainees.
  • Ability to manage emergency situations effectively.
  • Advanced Knowledge in clinical care and treatment in Nephrology and Dialysis.
  • Excellent teaching, interpersonal communication and mentorship skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Qualified candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Candidates must have or be eligible for an Arizona medical license.
  • Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics in the subspecialty of Nephrology.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in basic science or clinical research is desirable but not required.
