About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a qualified Senior Environmental Inspector - Plant Salvage Field Supervisor to be located in southern Nevada. This role supports a large-scale linear construction project by leading plant salvage and restoration efforts, with a focus on protected species such as cactus and yucca in arid environments.

The Senior Environmental Inspector - Plant Salvage Field Supervisor serves as the critical interface between environmental compliance requirements and active construction operations, ensuring that salvage activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with federal, state, and project-specific permit requirements.

What you will accomplish

  • Lead and oversee plant salvage operations (e.g., cactus, yucca, and other sensitive desert species)
  • Coordinate salvage sequencing with construction schedules
  • Implement Biological Opinions, Plans of Development, permits, and agency stipulations
  • Supervise salvage crews and subcontractors
  • Establish salvage, staging, and replanting areas
  • Ensure compliance with BLM, USFWS, and client requirements
  • Track salvage metrics and success rates
  • Utilize GIS, GPS, and digital data platforms
  • Develop adaptive management strategies
  • Coordinate with environmental and construction teams
  • Maintain safety and develop hazard plans
  • Support post-construction monitoring and restoration

Experience and qualifications for success

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with desert plant salvage (preferred)
  • Knowledge of BLM and USFWS requirements
  • Experience managing field crews including subcontractors and vendors
  • Understanding of construction workflows
  • Ability to implement permit conditions
  • Experience with GIS and data platforms
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work in remote environments
  • Valid driver's license and clean record
  • Ability to pass background check and screening
Drug and Alcohol Testing Requirements

This position is subject to pre-employment, post-incident, and random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with client requirements and applicable regulations.

Candidates must be able to:

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Participate in random testing programs
  • Comply with post-incident and reasonable suspicion testing
  • Meet all site-specific safety and substance policies
  • Failure to comply may result in disqualification or removal from a project.

This position can expect an hourly pay range of $28.00 - $42.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Actual pay within this range will be determined based on factors permitted by law, including but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business and client needs. Certain client project contracts may offer a premium pay rate above the base hourly rate when applicable.
